Happy Wednesday, y’all!  The week is half done for most of you and I’m jealous!

What with all of the Halloween candy floating around here, I figured now would be a great time to try out this new Yogi tea, Mayan Cocoa Spice to help combat the chocolate cravings.

I have had two cups of this herbal tea so far, it’s that good! Obviously, it’s not going to be as great as a real chocolate bar, but I’m giving this tea two thumbs up for having a great cocoa flavor.  Plus, it’s made out of ground cocoa shells and cocoa is full of antioxidants, as most of you know.  Up to 3x more than green tea, according to this website.  So go eat some chocolate and be healthy!  Or save the calories and buy this tea!

Breakfast was this great pumpkin pie yogurt from Stonyfield mixed in with some of my fave bulk granola from WF.  Amazingly I was able to hold off eating this ’til 7am.  Thankfully, my body isn’t used to eating between 3am and 7, so I didn’t need any snacks (forgive the phone pics, I forgot my camera and attempted blogging from my phone).

Lunch was the Mayan Harvest Bake from Kashi.  It’s looks a hot mess but is pretty good for frozen food.  It’s made out of plantains, sweet potatoes and punkin seeds…really, can you go wrong?  It’s spicy and sweet all at once and the perfect portion size.  I had never had plantains prior to trying this, so thanks to Kashi for introducing me to somethin new.

I had about half of these grapes for a snack:

And about a 1/2 of this bottle of Kombucha.  Had anyone else tried this?  It’s got a really different flavor and this is about the 3rd one I’ve tried.  Almost a beer-ish taste.  Which makes sense since it’s fermented.  For as much as I like beer,  I’m not crazy about them, I’m thinking it’s just an acquired taste.  So I keep trying, though at $3.99 a bottle, I’m not wasting ANY of it even if I don’t like it.

All right, I’m off for a quick run and to make dinner.  I’d like to be in bed by 7′ish as I’m going in to work at 3am again and would love a full night’s sleep.

**OK, I had typed this post up last night and before posting my POS computer decided to go completely FUBAR and freeze up.  I was tired and didn’t feel like jacking with it….so here is the post for Wednesday, just a day late.**

I actually managed to post once already today, now this is twice!  Woo, I’m on a roll!

Breakfast this morning was a banana and boiled egg with a 20 oz. cup of coffee from Scooters.  I would post a picture but really, I’ve already posted it a few times the past week and it’s pretty boring.  I just don’t take the time in the morning to make an actual breakfast, sleep is more important to me!

Lunch today was boring as well.  Due to the pumpkin patch last night and not getting home ’til late, I was too tired to take any time to make lunch.  So I resorted to what I could grab this morning on my way out the door.  Boring but healthy oatmeal and an apple….

Gawd, the lighting is so bad on that picture it hurts my eyes.  I was too lazy to move by a window.  And figured my co-workers would think I’m crazier than I already am, so I opted for the desk shot.

Good thing I had such a healthy breakfast and lunch as the afternoon snack wasn’t exactly nutrient packed.  Popcorn from Vic’s:

After work, I booked it home, blogged and did a 2-mile run.  I’ve gone back to a beginner training plan for running a half marathon.  My right foot has really been bothering me…not so much while I run but the next morning it’s killer!  There’ve been a couple of mornings where I could barely walk!  It’s hard enough to get out of bed and hit snooze!  My foot would loosen up pretty quickly, but I just wonder if I wasn’t trying too much, too soon since I haven’t been consistent with running long distances the last couple of months.  Then to go out and run 8 and 9 miles without really building up to it probably wasn’t the best idea.  Plus, I’m 30.  That’s just old and it takes a little longer for the old joints to get used to things. :)

After my run, I visited my best friend as I haven’t talked to her too much the past couple of weeks and we had some catching up to do.  That visit may have involved a glass of red wine

After getting home around 8:30, I yet again didn’t really have time to cook anything.  Plus, that one glass of wine made me sleepy!  So I just made a bagel sammich with:

  • Whole wheat bagel
  • Salmon cream cheese (wish I’d had smoked salmon…mmmm…)
  • Red onion
  • Baby lettuce

I did throw together some pasta for lunch though.  Instant oatmeal can only get me through lunch for so many days.  I’ve now had this Yogi tea (found it on clearance for 2 bucks!) while typing and am definitely ready for bed!

I’ve finally gotten a moment to come back to this project! I’m not doing so well with consistency on this blog. I have a good excuse though, I worked both of my days off and my computer is a big piece of garbage, it takes FOREVER to even open up a web page let alone upload pictures and what not. I’m sure I can think of some more excuses but two should do for now. Also on the list of things to do is play with this layout since it’s super plain and complete an “about me” section. It’s coming, I swear.

So, breakfast today. I’ve been pretty consistent about drinking these green smoothies the husband and I came up with sometime last year. Since I wasn’t cooking much, it was a way to get some vitamins into our diets. Today’s smoothie contains fresh mango and banana. I like pineapple too but I haven’t cut it up yet. Some flaxseed, blueberry juice and yumberry juice. Never heard of yumberry? Yeah, neither had I until the husband brought it home one day. Oh yeah, I throw spinach into mine and a green powder called Perfect Food Original. I won’t go into detail but it’s got a lot of good stuff in it. We find it at Whole Foods. For this smoothie only being fruits and juice, it does a decent job of keeping me filled up until 11am and I drink it about 7:30.

Lunch today was totally inspired by this lady over here. Both of the pics shown actually. I’ve been reading her blog for a couple of weeks now and it’s very informative on products she’s tried and there are some really good recipes. The stuffed zucchini I had today is one of my new favorites! The lighting doesn’t do it justice. I truly work in hell. Cubicle hell. But lunch was good, trust.

I also had some cauliflower and broccolli that would probably go bad before I could eat it all, so I made some mashed broccolli and cauliflower. I’d had the mashed cauliflower at Ruby Tuesdays before and really liked it. It doesn’t look very appealing but it’s pretty decent. Next time I will throw in some sweet potato or even a plain potato. Hopefully that might make it thicken up.

Around 1:30 or so almost everyday I get sugar cravings. Today I had a cup of yogi tea with Stevia and a clementine that has seen better days. It still tasted good though and took the edge off of the chocolate craving. I hear the swine flu may have landed in Omaha? Might as well strengthen up the ‘ol immune system with some citrus.

So for a snack when I got home I had one of my favorites. Toast with almond butter, banana and honey. I picked up the multi-grain bread at Panera yesterday and it’s really good. Oh yeah, and a glass of organic skim milk. The hubby and I love, love, love milk and go through about 2 gallons a week. No, we do not have kids. If I get osteoporosis when I’m 80, I’m gonna be pissed.

I am hoping to make it to the gym this evening. I still have to run to the mall and I have tons of cleaning and laundry to do since I didn’t have a day off so if time gets short, I’ll just be going for a run as that cuts out a lot of drive time. I’ve been doing really well with the running recently (well, I’m still slow as hell) but at least I’ve been going. Once I fill out an “about me” section, there will be a more clear definition of my goals and how very far I still have to go.
Good night for now, I’m off to the mall, lighting store, etc!
