This is my very first post, how exciting! This blog will mostly be about food, fitness and daily life. And trying to find the 20-year old figure in this 30-year old body. I’ve been a “lurker” on numerous food and fitness sights and actually find it interesting to see what people eat and how they stay fit on a daily basis. After reading other blogs for so long, I thought I’d share some of what goes on with me every day. And let me tell you, it’s fascinating! I’ll be updating the “about me” section soon, so that will fill you in a bit more.
So far for my first day of keeping a journal about what I’m eating, I got zero pics. But I did go on a bikeride and to the zoo today so I’ll talk about that! I’ve got some old pics from last year from a ride on the Wabash Trace, a trail that is really popular around here. And this is where I went bike riding today. First ride of the season!
This is near the trail head:

Basically a view of what the trail looks like the whole way:

After the 12 mile bike ride, my friend Jen and I went to lunch at one of the 3 casinos we have here. I had the salmon salad and a small bite of white chocolate raspberry cupcake we just had to have for desert. After lunch, I met another friend of mine at the Henry Doorly Zoo to start using the annual zoo pass I just bought. I am a huge lover of all things animal and the zoo we have here is pretty impressive. Should you ever be in the Omaha, Nebraska area, you should check it out. I grew up going here every summer and it’s about all we can boast about. Besides hosting the College World Series. Although, as I get older and read more PETA literature, viewing some of the animals in cages is pretty depressing. Some animals should never be caged no matter how nice the facility. The zoo here does do a ton with animal and wildlife conservation so I take a small comfort in that. Oh well, on to a few things we saw…
Today it wasn’t too busy and it was mating time around there! Spring has sprung and the peacocks that roam around were seriously workin’ it for some play:

So pretty:

New to the zoo this year is the butterfly pavillion. I got a cool picture of this moth (I forget it’s name now). Sorry for not having the best pics. I forgot my camera and had to use my phone. I love my iphone but the pictures aren’t the best quality.

I should probably wrap this post up for now. It’s 7pm here and I’d still like to get a run in…I’ll talk more about the running thing later this week and how much I hate er, love it.
